Adelaide is unique in being a city planned to be surrounded by parks.

The Adelaide Park Lands and City Layout devised by Colonel William Light are included on Australia’s national heritage list because of their national and international significance. Almost since their establishment they have been threatened and diminished with encroachments. The National Trust supports the retention of Adelaide’s existing Park Lands and supports the work of others such as as the Adelaide Parklands Association
