The National Trust is expressing its strong opposition to the proposal to demolish the Hammerhead Crane at Garden Island.
This Crane was listed on the National Trust Register in 1996 and in 2007 it joined the National List of “Our Heritage at Risk”.
The Trust believes that the crane should be retained and understands that its potential for adaptive resuse as a tourist attraction, similar to the Titan Crane is Glasgow, Scotland can be realized, ensuring that it remains an extraordinary and remarkable landmark on the skyline of Sydney Harbour.
