1:00 pm ‐ 3:00 pm

$10.00 per person

Set off from the Moonta Mines Museum with Ali De Baker (from National Trust of South Australia) and walk the heritage-listed Hancock’s Precinct Walking Trail, Moonta Mines to the historic Miner’s Cottage, built in 1800s by John Wood.

Walk in the footsteps of the Cornish Miner and their families whilst you listen to stories of their lives and visit the various Tailing (Skimp) Heaps, and mine shafts, and admire native vegetation along the way.

Upon arrival at the cottage, you will be given a guided tour of the inside and learn about the way John Wood (a brickmaker) made bricks using clay, the construction of the walls, roof, and floors, and how the family that lived in this unique cottage cooked, bathed, did their laundry, grew their vegetables, and lived their “day to day” lives.

Good walking shoes, a water bottle, and a hat are recommended for this tour.

Your Tour Guide in the Miner’s Cottage is a valued and knowledgeable, volunteer of the National Trust of South Australia, Moonta Mines.
