The area also witnessed the first sharing of languages, the first notating of Indigenous words, the first sighting of the kangaroo, the first conflict and the first steps to reconciliation.

Connect with the past at the Hinchinbrook Shire Library through a photographic history of events, places and people. Stroll along the 'Hinchinbrook Way Walk', an ever changing landscape of information and beauty, and immerse yourself in the 'mini Museum', a wealth of local military history.
Join us for ten days of food, dance, music and talks on history, as well as guided walking tours and tours of buildings. There will be something different each day, including exhibitions and artefact displays.
A static display at the Gladstone City Library will be placed in a display cupboard and will show highlights of our Genealogical Society Gladstone District's history over the past 35 years of operation. The display will incorporate photographs, documents and books.
