Friends of the Hawkesbury art community & Regional Gallery Inc

In response to the increasingly chaotic situation of world politics & climate change, the Friends of the Hawkesbury art community & Regional Gallery Inc. presents an exhibition of 19th & 20th Century images portraying a collective calmness, from the celestial to marine, landscapes and domesticity.

With ‘unearthed’ being this year’s Heritage Festival’s theme, our organization cast around for a fitting response to the National Trust’s challenge.

Unwilling to compromise with a more conventional approach, our response is to acknowledge the present unpredictable world state by exhibiting a series of images which reflect a past more peaceful way of life. Thus was born ‘Tranquillity found’.

The exhibition presents an oasis of serenity by displaying a selection of serene, atmospheric images created by John Coburn, Julian Ashton, Jean Appleton and Joshua Smith amongst several other artists, with a number of the works being displayed to the public for the first time.
