Bonegilla – The migrants journey

Award winning podcast, documentary maker and musician, Simon Reich, has created "Bonegilla - The migrants journeyā€¯, which immerses you in a world of hardships endured by war ravaged migrants and their brave pursuit of a better life in Australia.

Bonegilla was the migrant camp near Albury, that 3/4 of a million immigrants were housed at, until their dispersal into Australian society.

The live show involves interviews with more than 20 migrants played on various large screens around the stage, including interviewee supplied photos and videos. Live music performed by a musician on a piano and synthesizer, will play the original composed soundtrack and sound effects throughout the performance. This heightens the emotional sections of the performance and creates an artistic event that also has a strong cultural message.

The show is not a “dry and dusty” history lesson, but a personal account from migrants that can paint a picture with their words.

You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. But most of all, you’ll be truly inspired by these gutsy pioneers who left everything behind to create a better life for themselves and their descendants.
