Old Umbrella Shop

A rare glimpse into Tasmania’s retail heritage.

This charming Launceston shop is one of the last surviving retail experiences of the early 1900’s.

It was operated by three generations of the Shott family who made and repaired umbrellas, and in later years were renowned for their hand -crafted souvenirs made on the premises from native timbers.

Today the shop sells a large range of umbrellas, as well as a variety of National Trust and Tasmanian-made products.

Rare old umbrellas and early souvenirs are also on display in original blackwood display cases.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all of our heritage properties are currently closed to the public until further notice.

We thank all of our members for their continued support at this time and look forward to welcoming you all to share in our unique heritage again as soon as it is safe to do so.
