Over 2024, volunteers contributed nearly 49,600 hours to the National Trust. The Trust would like to thank them for donating their time so generously to the Trust and Tasmania’s tourism economy.
The National Trust is Australia’s largest community-based heritage organization.
Volunteers care for Trust properties in a range of capacities from tour guiding to gardening; to collection care and event organizing. Projects such as the Convict Memorial at the Hobart Penitentiary are powered by Digital History Tasmania’s 20+ volunteer historic document transcribers. The recent Tasmanian Tourism Award for Cultural Heritage to the Hobart Penitentiary and the Trust’s outstanding TripAdvisor ranking was based on visitor feedback on the quality of the visitor experience.
National Trust Tasmania is looking to expand the volunteer ranks at the Hobart Penitentiary and its eight other museum properties across Tasmania. If you would like to join a winning team, give back to your community and meet culturally engaged people from around the world, please contact: admin@nationaltrusttas.org.au
