Retford Park
Venture up the driveway of Retford Park and you’ll soon spot the grand Victorian Italianate homestead. Draw closer and two stone dog statues standing guard at the front come into view. It’s the first clue that former owner James Fairfax was a keen dog lover. The second lies in the grounds of the property, where James’ ashes are buried alongside his beloved pets.
In celebration of James’s adoration of his dogs (it is thought that he owned over 13 during the course of his life), Retford Park is paying homage to canines of all shapes and sizes with a day of festivities marking International Dog Day. Featuring garden tours, a special agility course, plus a range of stalls offering dog-related treats and services, it’s the perfect way to spend quality time with your four-legged best friend.
24 August 2025, 10am ‐ 4pm, International Dog Day activities are included in a regular General Entry. Members: Free, Concession: $15.00, Adult: $17.00, Child: Free, Family: $49.00.
