Unearthing The Well
The Franklin House convict built well was 'unearthed' in January 2021.
A garden volunteer at Franklin House was weeding when her leg went down a hole and the convict well was unearthed. Southern Archaeology was contacted, and a partial dig was carried out. It was found to be an old well site.
A brick circle has been placed at the site with a wooden lid for the placement of a plaque.
The plaque will be unveiled on Sunday, 13th April at 1.45 pm followed by a high tea at 2.00 pm.
