Dromkeen Homestead & Gallery in the tiny hamlet of Riddells Creek, is a jewel in the heart of the Macedon Ranges. Its history dates back to 1889 when the original owner, Irish immigrant Judge Arthur Chomley (prosecutor on the Ned Kelly case), commissioned the esteemed architects Hyndman and Bates to build his new home. In the last 50 years, Dromkeen has been associated with art and Australian children’s literature.
Dromkeen would like to invite visitors to visit ‘The Wonder of Nature’, a special pop-up art exhibition, open from Saturday 12th April to Sunday 27th April, featuring the work of 30 local artists. It is a special ‘fund-raising’ event to assist with maintenance of this glorious old homestead and so all artwork may be purchased. There is a cafe on-site with delicious tea, coffee and home-made cakes, scones, jam & cream, toasties and other savouries. Drop in to see this wonderful exhibition or make a booking for the tearoom.
