The Coming of Age – Australian Wooden Tall Ship Alma Doepel

Witness the final stages of the Alma Doepel Restoration as we prepare for the rigging.

The Alma Doepel is entering her final stages of the restoration.

The hull is back in the water, the deck is watertight and the lower masts are in place.
The final push is to complete the rigging, raise the top masts and fit out the accommodation, engine room, electrics and plumbing. Once complete the ship will undergo sea trials and pass a strict maritime survey.

During the Heritage Festival we will showcase the results of 10 years hard work with a Sausage Sizzle!

The Alma Doepel is 122 year old Australian built 3 masted top sail schooner. She is the last of her kind and her role is offering young people the opportunity to learn how to sail a traditional tall ship in a team, realising their own abilities, building self-esteem, confidence and resilience as they take themselves out of their comfort zones to achieve outcomes they would otherwise not have reached. All the while enjoying an exhilarating Voyage of a Lifetime, forging life long friendships and memories.
