Labassa: Private Lives
Discover the untold stories of Labassa’s more unorthodox residents.
Labassa has been home to every kind of family. Although its classical façade pays homage to traditional values, generations of non-conformist relationships have thrived within its walls. Known as “Labassa Flats” for most of the 20th century, it offered a degree of privacy, acceptance and support to free-spirited singles, divorcees, the childless and queer. The arrival of a more liberal generation of students, artists and musicians in the 1960s further challenged prevailing ideas of “family”.
