Heritage Walk of Aberfeldie

From grand homes to local institutions, explore the history of Aberfeldie on a guided heritage walk

Discover the stories behind Aberfeldie on this guided walk with the Essendon Historical Society. Admire historic homes, from Homewood – the centre of the Sisters of Resurrection – to Clydebank – the home of the Ramsay family of entrepreneurs and artists. Explore the role of local schools, including Essendon High School and Aberfeldie Primary School, in driving the development of the area, and stroll past local icons, including the much-loved Bessell’s Bakery and Tony’s Pies, and learn about their place in the community over the decades.

This walk offers a fascinating glimpse into Aberfeldie’s past, bringing to life the stories of the people and places that shaped the suburb.

The walk will meet at the corner of Buckley Street and Aberdeen Crescent and conclude at Aberfeldie Primary School. About 3km in length, it will take around 2 hours and participants are encouraged to wear suitable walking shoes.
