Glenferrie is the heart of Hawthorn. This guided history walk traces the amazing transformation of the area from the wooded rural retreat of the 1860s through to the bustling metropolis that we see today. Along the way we will see many of the area’s impressive heritage buildings and iconic locations and be entertained and surprised by the local stories. Starting at Central Gardens, formerly the site of early brickpits, we will conclude at the MIchael Tuck Stand at Glenferrie Oval, the old stamping ground of the Hawthorn Football Club.
Meet: Central Gardens, William Street, Hawthorn.
Only 7 minutes walk from either Glenferrie or Auburn Stations
Finish at the Glenferrie Road OvalThe walk will start at 11am and take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, so plan to have lunch afterwards at one of the lovely cafes or restaurants on Glenferrie Road.
Cost: $10 or free for members of the Hawthorn Historical Society
