Geelong Gallery’s 129-year history

Geelong Gallery was established in 1896 and is one of Australia’s leading art galleries, with a magnificent collection of Australian and European painting, sculpture, printmaking and decorative arts dating from the 18th century to today.

Join us for a special guided tour facilitated by Gallery Volunteer Guides and delve into the rich 129-year history of Geelong Gallery; one of the oldest regional art galleries in Australia.

This event is part of the 2025 ‘Australian Heritage Festival’ (18 April to 18 May) Australia’s biggest community-driven heritage festival. This year’s theme, ‘Unearthed’ will explore lesser-known histories, amplify diverse voices, and empower future generations to become custodians of our culture.
