Celebrate Dame Nellie’s Birthday
Join us for an evening to celebrate Dame Nellie’s birthday, with foods named in her honour and music to match from the Melba Opera Trust artists. There will be performances by the Melba Artists during the course of the five course dinner.
Dame Nellie Melba was a regular at the Savoy Hotel, London. Auguste Escoffier, the legendary chef from the Savoy, invented and named the light accompaniment of dry thinly sliced bread after her (Melba Toast) when Melba was ill in 1897. Escoffier also created the Peach Melba, Melba Sauce and Melba G.
