BottledSnail Productions is a not for profit performing arts company providing a creative outlet to Melbourne’s legal profession. One of the company’s ongoing projects is “Shakespeare in the Supreme” where members of the community perform rehearsed readings of Shakespeare’s plays in the Law Library in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Members of this project will perform a reading of Shakespeare’s “Winter’s Tale” in another beautiful historic Court, the former Bendigo Law Court, as part of the festival on Saturday 17 May from 2pm. Tickets are free but registration is required.
One of Shakespeare’s later plays and considered one of his romances, Winter’s Tale is set in the Kingdom of Sicilia and focuses on the harm jealousy can cause after the King of Sicilia, Leontes, becomes convinced his wife, Hermione, is having an affair with his oldest friend, Polixenes, the King of Bohemia.
