Barton from Telopea Park Heritage Walk

Visit Barton to discover the rich history of some of Canberra’s earliest office, residential and transport developments, places of worship, parks and recreation areas, as well as relics of native grasslands that have survived European settlement.

Barton is a large and full of the history so there will be two walks to discover the part it has played in the development of Canberra. This is Walk 1 which will cover the area between Telopea Park and Brisbane Avenue, the residential and recreational part of the suburb, viewing places such as the area around Manuka Circle, the Forrest Fire Station, Telopea Park School and the heritage area of the Barton Housing Precinct.

Walk 2 will take place on Sunday 25 May and will cover the area between Brisbane and Kings Avenue with its office development and accommodation places, such the Hotel Kurrajong and Brassey House.
