About us – The National Trust of VictoriaDonating to the National Trust of Australia (Victoria)

The National Trust is a non-government community organisation which owns or manages over 40 historic properties across Victoria and is a major contributor to cultural tourism and heritage education in the state.

The Trust is also custodian of extensive collections of furnishings, costumes, artworks, documents and other objects of immeasurable historical and cultural significance.

Our mission is to inspire the community to appreciate, conserve and celebrate its natural, cultural and Indigenous heritage. The costs to maintain and conserve these heritage properties and collections runs into hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.

You can help preserve these irreplaceable landmarks and collections for future generations and support us in our mission. We welcome donations all year round from our members and the general public to help us continue our vital work in the community.

2017 Annual Appeal – Como House and Garden

For over 60 years the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) has led the conservation and protection of our heritage. It is through the generous support of our members and supporters that we have been able to undertake many critical conservation projects.

In 2017 our Annual Appeal focuses on works to Como House and Garden Estate supporting two important projects aimed at conserving the property for future generations:

  • preservation of the original timberwork and iron elements, and repainting the house
  • conservation and repair of the original 1866 cast iron gates and lamps
