An updated Australian National Dictionary has just been released and now includes over 500 Indigenous words. A Guugu Yimithirr word that Australians are already very familiar with is the anglicisation of ‘Gunguuru’ which was one of over 130 Guugu Yimithirr words recorded by James Cook and Joseph Banks when they were in Cooktown in 1770.
