Preserve History, Celebrate Community: Support the Restoration of the Church of the Epiphany.
Church of the Epiphany Appeal
The Anglican Parish of Stirling planted its roots back in 1878 when land was given for a church to be built for the local community. Today this parish comprises three churches – the Church of the Ascension Aldgate, St Michael and All Angels Bridgewater and the Church of the Epiphany Crafers, the latter listed as a state heritage building.
Restoration of state heritage buildings require specific attention, and the Church of the Epiphany have embarked on the long walk in restoration work. This work would continue to preserve the history of the building, and the prized 22-stop Knud Smenge pipe organ. The church building is a much loved landmark by its worshipping community and the many visitors who have shared their lifecycle events, finding a contemplative space in the Adelaide Hills community. We celebrate in wedding unions and baptisms, as well as hold space for those mourning a loved one.
We also rejoice in music and the arts; for we all have a story to tell. Our expressions differ, yet we all know and celebrate love. Parishioners have supported the arts as a long-standing tradition for the parish to host music and plays. Recently a revival of this tradition has seen the setting of the inner space for medieval banquets, with performers showcasing circle dancing, hosting of classical recitals and contemporary genres, especially during the Adelaide Fringe.
