Waller House awarded Disaster Recovery Heritage Grant

On Thursday 9 January 2025, the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) had the pleasure of welcoming Minister for Planning, The Hon. Sonya Kilkenny, to Waller House.

This visit marked the announcement of the recipients of the Government’s Disaster Recovery Heritage Grants, which support the restoration of heritage sites damaged by floods, storms, and bushfires.

Waller House was one of 16 sites selected to receive recovery funding following severe storms in late 2022. The site will receive over $30,000 to restore the roof and enhance its resilience to future weather events.

Welcoming the grant, Samantha Westbrook, Executive Manager, Advocacy & Conservation, said

“The funding will support critical repairs to the roof of the external studio and address longstanding water ingress issues in the Blue Room, safeguarding the heritage fabric of Waller House.

These works will enhance the building’s resilience and enable us to continue sharing its remarkable story with visitors and researchers alike.”

The National Trust is deeply grateful for the Disaster Recovery Heritage Grant, which will help us continue our mission of preserving the nation’s rich history for all to enjoy.
