Did you know that Rippon Lea Estate's grass tennis court is believed to be one of the oldest remaining courts in Australia?
This historic court is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, including turf maintenance, a new boundary fence, and a new court net. By Spring 2024, the court will be ready for booking, allowing tennis enthusiasts to enjoy games once again.
In conjunction with these upgrades, Rippon Lea Estate will host a special installation of tennis memorabilia within the mansion over the summer months. We are seeking contributions of vintage tennis memorabilia, such as pre-1930s wooden rackets, costumes, and other ephemera, to be part of this unique display.
Have you played tennis on the Estate court in the past? Do you have photos or stories that could be shared and showcased?
If you have items or memories to contribute, please contact Dr. Annette Shiell, Executive Manager – Collections & Cultural Projects, at collections@nattrust.com.au. Please include photos of any items you wish to share in your email.
