"Looking at Melbourne’s buildings from a women’s history point of view brings new ways of seeing our city.

This book is a treasure trove of history, architecture and planning. Too often we are led to think that cities are built by male planners, architects and artisans only.”

Hon. Joan Kirner

In 2008 as part of its efforts to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of women’s suffrage in Victoria the National Trust was successful in obtaining a grant from the Victoria’s Heritage Grants program (Interpretation of Heritage Places and Objects) of Heritage Victoria to produce a book and podcast on significant women’s historic places.

This book can be used as a walking tour book or enjoyed as a reference. It is split into two parts for easy download. It includes maps and images of points of interest on 4 self guiding walking tours of Melbourne.
