The National Trust of Australia (New South Wales) has commenced its Expression of Interest process for the future management and occupancy of the property located at 3105 Remembrance Driveway, Bargo. The “Wirrimbirra Sanctuary” is currently located at this property.
The property was gifted to the National Trust of Australia (NSW) in 1965 by the David G Stead Memorial Wild Life Research Foundation of Australia (Stead Research Foundation) and over the years has flourished as a field studies centre for school children and tertiary students.
“The National Trust of Australia (NSW) has been considering the future management of this property for many years to ensure the long-term sustainability and effective management for this site of great significance to the local community,” said Debbie Mills, Chief Executive Officer at the National Trust (NSW).
“We recognise the great environmental and cultural significance of the property and that a sense of connection to this place is a very emotional matter for the local community,” Debbie Mills said.
“Our aim in commencing this process is to ensure the best possible long term outcome for this place of natural significance, where the conservation, research and education about flora and fauna can continue to be fostered into the future.”
The Expression of Interest opportunity will be advertised in the Sydney metropolitan press. Submissions from individuals and organisations can be submitted via the National Trust (NSW) website at nationaltrust.org.au/eoi-nsw/ up until close of business AET on Monday, 22 October 2018.
