2019 Election of Directors – Call for Nominations & Timetable

The National Trust of Australia (Queensland) Limited (NTAQ) Nominations Committee is now calling for nominations for the position of Director and invites Members to consider a qualified person as a candidate.

Currently pursuant to rule 8.2 of the constitution the NTAQ Board consists of six Directors elected by Members and three Directors appointed by the Board.   Current Directors Dr Ian Galloway AM (also President), James Sedman and Gina Palmer were elected by the then Governing Members at the 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) for a three-year term that expires at end of November 2019 AGM.

These three vacancies are to be filled under rule 8.3 (a) of the Constitution.

The three retiring Directors are able to re-nominate for election. Under rule 8.5 (b) of the Constitution, a person may serve on the NTAQ Board for two consecutive terms of three years, provided that a Director who is the President may have his or her term extended for an additional term of up to 12 months.

All nominated candidates are assessed by the NTAQ Nominations Committee under rule 8.4 of the Constitution in accordance with its Charter.   The successful candidates approved by the Nominations Committee will then be subject to an election by Members of NTAQ via a secret online ballot to be held in October 2019.  The results of the secret ballot elections to fill the three vacancies will be announced at the 2019 Annual General Meeting of NTAQ to be held on Saturday 23rd November 2019 at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

A qualified person wishing to nominate for the position of Director on the NTAQ Board must complete a Nomination & Consent Form and is available on the NTAQ website – www.nationaltrust.org.au/qld/.  Nominations for position of Director on the NTAQ Board must be received by the Nominations Committee of NTAQ by 5.00pm, Friday 26th July 2019 via email to: ntaqnominations@nationaltrustqld.org
