This exhibition runs from August 2015 to January 2016 at Norman Lindsay Gallery.

Norman Lindsay is mostly remembered for his sumptuous nudes and Bulletin cartoons, although many Australians who have read and enjoyed his classic Australian children’s story The Magic Pudding would remember him as an author and illustrator, but unless you are a ‘Lindsay fan’ most people wouldn’t know that Norman Lindsay painted, drew and made an armada of ship models!

The high seas, pirates and adventures, were a source of fascination for Norman Lindsay from a very early age. As a child of only 3 or 4, he remembers the father of the family’s housemaid making him a ship model of a full-rigged ship. This was the beginning of a life long passion.
