New exhibition, West of Wonderland, contains digitally manipulated photographs and a selection of 3D works based on characters featured in ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking Glass’.
Immerse yourself in fantastical nonsensical imagery inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Digitally manipulated photos, headdresses, sculptures and installation works feature among the body of eye-catching works. The characters presented in West of Wonderland include dolls with large eyes, thin, emaciated faces and big lips.
For artist Livonne Larkins, the words “Once upon a time” and “happily ever after” influence every piece of imagery she creates. “Every good story has light and shade, evil and goodness. It’s essential that even the darkest of subjects should have a glimmer of hope to inspire and empower”.
On the Studio Terrace lawns outside the gallery, enjoy a selection of bespoke games which were featured in the original books, such as Flamingo Croquet and large chess.
