Magic Lanterns were the earliest devices made to produce projections and have been around since the 17th century. Lanterns became extremely popular in the Victorian era as both public and private entertainment and were enjoyed by people of all ages.

Discover the history of Magic Lanterns from a passionate collector as she shared the story of this ingenious contraption. A variety of images will be presented using a modern electric lantern, with examples of slides and lanterns on display for closer viewing.

The talk is 40 minutes long and will be presented on Saturday 12 September at 1pm & 2pm in the intimate setting of the Drawing Room of Ayers House Museum.

Bookings are essential due to capacity limit of only 8 participants per sessions.
