Join us for a talk and afternoon tea with historian, Dr Fay Woodhouse as she discusses who was responsible for the first plan of Melbourne.

Topic: Surveying the Landscape: Robert Russell, Robert Hoddle and the first plan of Melbourne

Speaker: Dr Fay Woodhouse, historian, will consider who was responsible for the first plan of Melbourne: Robert Russell or Robert Hoddle?

Speaker’s statement: Historians have long disputed whether Russell or Hoddle originally laid out Melbourne’s street grid and the issue remains contentious. This talk surveys the evidence and draws some conclusions.
