All members and volunteers are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Larrakeyah Branch of the National Trust of Australia, Northern Territory.
ONLY FINANCIAL MEMBERS HAVE VOTING RIGHTS.
The AGM will be followed by the first talk in our 2018 Speaker’s Night at Burnett House program by Anne Connor and titled:
“Two Generations – a memoir of secrets, forgiveness and my father”
Two Generations is a story about Jock Connor, a soldier stationed in Darwin during Japan’s 1942-1973 bombing. During an Inspection of Arms, Jock’s gun accidentally discharges, killing his twenty-two-year-old friend and fellow soldier.
It is a tale of romance, hardship and resilience, and an intimate and imaginative retelling of the lasting effect of secrets on a family, and the greater impact of the Second World War on northern Australia.
Anne Connor is an award-winning Melbourne writer, with articles appearing in The Age, Business Review Weekly and various lifestyle and industry magazines. Her short stories have been published in anthologies and received awards in short story competitions.
Larrakeyah Branch National Trust and Historical Society Northern Territory invite you to join them under the verandah at 4 Burnett Place, Myilly Point, with drinks and finger food at 5.30pm before the talk.
Entry: $2 for members, $5 for non-members, $1-$5 food & drinks
