Wander the grounds of stunning Retford Park, get lost the in maze at Harper’s Mansion and take advantage of this rare opportunity to tour historic Golden Vale.

Enjoy light refreshments at stunning Retford Park and historic Golden Vale, with onsite entertainment and a complimentary glass of wine between 2pm and 4pm*. Relax in the picturesque gardens and enjoy a well-earned treat after finding your way through the Harper’s Mansion maze.

The beautiful grounds of Retford Park are well worth a visit to explore the vast arboretum, knot garden, exquisite swimming pool and sculptures. So pack a picnic, enjoy a stroll, watch out for the emus, play some garden games and sip on a complimentary glass of wine between 2pm and 4pm for adults. Please note the house will not be open.

Head to the historic town of Berrima to visit the heritage gardens of Harper’s Mansion built in 1834 and set in two acres of gardens made for strolling, full of cool climate heritage plants and featuring one of the largest hedge mazes in Australia. Please note that the maze will be open for families to explore but in keeping with COVID-19 safety, only one family can enter the maze at any time.

Last but by no means least, take advantage of this rare opportunity to visit Golden Vale which is not usually open to the public to tour the house and garden. The homestead complex is believed to have been built around 1870 on 200 acres of land, with a substantial two story stone house set in a large English style garden. The house contains an extensive collection of furniture, pictures, documents and objet d’art from the Keighley period. Complimentary wine will be served 2pm – 4pm (one glass per adult).

Event Locations

Harper’s Mansion was built by James and Mary Harper soon after 1834, when they bought land in Berrima township. James Harper was the only son of William Harper and Margaret Morgan, both convicts.
