Learn about the Trust's collection of strange and wonderful shoes with Senior Curator Elizabeth Anya-Petrivna in the fabulous Ballroom at Como House.
A piece of silk satin, embroidered with a rich metallic thread, was found inside a drawer at Como House. This flat textile is a pattern for a pair of dancing slippers, purchased in France in the late 1870s and never made into shoes. It inspired the installation Shoes – Footsteps in the House of Discovery.
