Brough House Gallery Space will exhibit artworks by local artist, Holly McNamee.
The works in this exhibition, Pastoral Suite, are conte/charcoal on Arches paper, along with some paintings, which tell the story of the fast disappearing vestiges of the pastoral industry in the Hunter Valley, Holly’s home. Small dairies, stock yards, and haysheds around the local area are all that are left of a once thriving dairy and stock industry. These are fast becoming sprawling suburbs of Maitland.
The wonderful Tocal settlement at Paterson still shows a little of what county life was like for a large property, as well as the superb Belltrees shearing shed on the White family property outside Scone. The importance of these industries is indicated by the Edmund Blackett designed barn of Tocal and the Horbury Hunt designed shearing shed at Belltrees.
