National War Animal Day at ANZAC Cottage

Join the Friends of ANZAC Cottage as they commemorate the animals who fought in wars

National War Animal Day is on Friday, February 24. However, mindful of the enjoyment and interest from the younger generation in this topic, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage will be holding their commemoration on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm.
On this day the community is invited to come together to pay their respects to the creatures that saved lives and provided much needed comfort for our servicemen and women as they endured horrific conditions during wartime.
Guests can learn more about the war animals with an illustrated talk and photographic displays, children’s activities based on the theme will be available and there is the opportunity to acknowledge these brave animals by placing a purple poppy or wreath at the animal memorial in the front yard.
Guests are asked to bring a doggie treat to place in the care packages destined for retired working dogs.
