National Trust Day: Loving Lake View House

With links across significant Trust sites like Maldon, Barwon Park and Illawarra, Henry Handel Richardson links the Trust.

In 1876 Lake View was home to Ethel Florence Robertson, pen name of famous Australian writer Henry Handel Richardson and author of The Getting of Wisdom. Richardson imortalised the house and her early life in Chiltern, under the fictional name of ‘Barambogie’, in The Fortunes of Richard Mahony and fittingly Lake View also contains Richardson memorabilia. Celebrate this significant part of international literary heritage and a place of Victorian importance as part of the Trust’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
