Susan Priestley, historian (fellow of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and committee member of the C J La Trobe Society) and La Trobe's Cottage invite you to come along and experience the history of ‘La Trobe’s gold and silver testimonial pieces.’
La Trobe’s farewell tribute from the people of Victoria in 1853 included a superb gold cup made in Melbourne (whereabouts unknown since 1862) and a London-made spectacular silver and glass candelabrum centrepiece, now in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria. Hear more about it and it’s place in history at the lecture.
