Historic Cemeteries in the Far-Reaches of the Hawkesbury

An interesting self-drive, guided tour to historic cemeteries in the far-reaches of the Hawkesbury, many within sight of the river.

Experience a unique scenic drive across rural Hawkesbury whilst viewing a number of historic cemeteries on this unique self-drive, guided tour.

We will visit graves of some of the early settlers and their families, some notable, others not so well-known, around St Albans, Wisemans Ferry, Sackville and Lower Portland.

Some gravesites are formal in style, while others are less structured, some maintained, some not, but all a solemn reminder of the frailty of life and the hard times of European settlement of our land. The day includes several ferry crossings across the majestic Hawkesbury River to travel to some of the unique localities which will add to the enjoyment of the day.

Please ensure you pack some food and refreshments, to be enjoyed at an idyllic spot along the way.

Proudly presented by the Hawkesbury Branch National Trust of Australia (NSW).
