Heritage Conversations – In the footsteps of Gregory (Webinar)

Join us for the July edition of Heritage Conversations hosted online.

In the footsteps of Gregory – A discussion about the results of Ground Penetrating Radar in East Perth Cemeteries will be presented by Dr Shane Burke from The University of Notre Dame Australia.

About the talk

In 2005, a surveyor’s transect of East Perth cemetery was identified in a survey field book. The transect, by Augustus Gregory and dated to 1845, showed a number of graves that are unmarked in 2020, including the graves of Samuel Kingsford and Capt. Richard Daniel (or Daniell). In 2019, a team from the University of Notre Dame Australia did Ground Penetrating Radar over the ground surveyed by Gregory, with the results suggesting that physical evidence still exists of graves in the oldest section of East Perth Cemeteries.
