Enjoy a guided tasting of more than a dozen different apple varieties in Rippon Lea’s historic orchard
The National Trust and the Victorian Heritage Fruit Society are hosting exclusive tasting tours of rare heritage apple varieties in the beautiful surrounds of Rippon Lea Estate.
The tasting tours run at 11am and 2pm and will include more than a dozen different apple varieties – apples with a breadth of flavour well beyond what you find in the supermarket. The tour will take in Rippon Lea’s historic orchard, containing over 120 different varieties of apple and pear.
Learn why there were so many different varieties in times past, what happened to them and what it takes to look after them today.
Refreshments and entry to the grounds of Rippon Lea are included in the ticket price. Many apple trees, propagated from Rippon Lea’s historic orchard collection, will also be available to purchase on the day as part of the Trusts’ annual Heritage Apple Tree Sale.
Please note tours will run at 11am and 2pm. However, the grounds and Heritage Apple Tree Sale runs all day from 10am to 4pm.
