Having a Voice: The Saumarez Story

Our speakers will use the diaries, photos, letters and family possessions to tell the story of Saumarez and its people at work, social, cultural and sporting events.

This event is part of the Australian Heritage Festival 2017

This event will have an exhibition available throughout the Australian Heritage Festival. The exhibition will provide an opportunity for visitors to Saumarez Homestead to understand more of the Saumarez Story.

On Sunday 30th April 2017, visitors to Saumarez Homestead will have the opportunity to participate in the “Having a Voice – The Saumarez Story” event.

From 9.30am to12.30pm, several speakers from the Saumarez Homestead conservation group will talk about the people who lived and worked at Saumarez and their social , cultural and sporting activities using the diaries, photos, letters and family possessions that make up the heart of the Saumarez Homestead Collection.

After lunch from 1.00pm to 3.00pm Saumarez Volunteers will provide information sessions about Saumarez Homestead, Gardens and Farm Area as well as volunteering opportunities at Saumarez Homestead.

For the ticket price of $7 for Adults and $5 for Concessions, participants in the “Having a Voice – The Saumarez Story” day will also have free access to the grounds, gardens and Farm Area.

During the 2017 Heritage Festival from 18th April until 21st May 2017 visitors to Saumarez Homestead will be able to view the exhibition in the “Playroom” at Saumarez homestead.  The exhibition is free for Saumarez Homestead House Tour and Grounds ticket holders.
