Established in 1865, Grandchester Railway Station was originally known as Bigge’s Camp.

The rural township of Grandchester is located 76 kilometres south-west of central Brisbane. Being only an hour’s drive from the capital presents a fantastic opportunity for locals and tourists alike to pack the family into the car and head off for an educational adventure. Volunteers from the Grandchester community offer visitors the opportunity to discover and connect with the character and railway history resonating from the property. Entry is free, but donations are always welcome to assist in maintaining this place so important to the history of Queensland.

Please note that this historic station will be open on Saturday 9 December from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The steam train will arrive and depart between 10.30am and 11.30am. Come out, see the steam train arrive and depart and enjoy the atmosphere!
