In collaboration with Linden New Art, National Trust presents a new exhibition from Melbourne-based artist Nicole Newman rich in metaphor and dark in humour.
Genaivisheh Shtiklech (Tricky Pieces) is an exhibition of 16 enigmatic new works. More than what they first appear, each of the small-scale, intricately silver-smithed sculptures in perspex combine language, metaphor and conflict to both puzzle and enlighten. Inspired by the natural world, her childhood connection to the Yiddish language and ‘objects of virtue’, Newman subverts expectations with her striking pieces that give priority to the cerebral and creative mind.
Visit: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm from Friday 23 February to Friday 9 March.
Location: Tasma Terrace, 6 Parliament Place, East Melbourne
