Welcome Spring in 2017 by joining us for a Garden Day at La Trobe's Cottage
Join us in celebrating Spring this year with tours of the charming garden at La Trobe’s Cottage.
The early development of the garden that Charles and Sophie La Trobe created at Jolimont reflects Charles longing for home with the aim to recreate the ornamental gardens of Europe. However, as the family settled into their new environment, they grew to love the native plants and their bush setting.
Charles took refuge in this beautiful garden from the stresses of his public life. He also felt that the citizens of Melbourne should be able to enjoy public gardens therefore on the first Sunday of October there will be tours of his garden for the public to enjoy.
Tour the recreated colonial garden featuring heritage plants La Trobe favoured, led by La Trobe’s Cottage gardener Sandi Pullman.
Tours will be held at 1.15pm, 2.15pm and 3.15pm.
No bookings required.
