The Historic Houses Association of Australia presents a wonderful new exhibition of paintings by earth pastel artist Greg Hansell.
Greg crushes rocks to make his own pigments and hand-makes his earth pastels using only natural rocks and clays and with no added binder or pigment he creates a colour permanence of the highest rating. He enjoys recording history as it appears today and his artworks capture the layers of history as revealed in the present day landscape, architecture and agriculture of the Hawkesbury region and beyond. As well as his signature earth pastel paintings the exhibition includes works in Schmincke pastel, oils and Aquatint etchings created in collaboration with the Pamela Griffith Studio.
