Join us on a National Trust Way Day Tour and see the magnificent Frank Gehry Building up close and personal.
The Dr Chau Chak Wing building, the first in Australia to be designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, is a key element of the $1 billion redevelopment of Sydney’s University of Technology. The design is striking not only on the outside but also, more importantly, on the inside. Gehry’s creative reaction to the UTS Business School’s approach to learning and research was to sketch a ‘tree house’ on a café napkin, imagining a building where people undertake quiet work in rooms in its ‘branches’, then meet in formal and informal spaces in its ‘trunk’. The building is within walking distance of Central Station, easily accessible by bus and train.
