Helen Macarthur is a Broome based Public Health Nurse who has worked in the Kimberleys for the past 45 years, originally at Gordon Downs Station and then in Halls Creek before moving to Broome. Helen has and does still work with WA Health, who recently honoured her for her tireless work, in particular with many of the least westernised Indigenous people, over an area of many hundreds of square kilometres. Most recently Helen has painstakingly traced the contacts of one person who presented with TB. She was delighted when they all arrived at the medical centre for a diagnostic X Ray, no mean feat when distances are so vast.
