Captain Harry Butler 100th anniversary celebration

Captain Harry Butler RFC 1889-1924. The Minlaton Branch of the National Trust of SA is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Captain Harry Butler’s home coming flight carrying the first Air Mail over Gulf Saint Vincent in the Southern Hemisphere.

Times to be finalized closer to the event date.

Planned events include;

Saturday 3 August there will be a guided walk viewing his statue, & the “Red Devil” his beloved Bristol MIC Monoplane, the only original one left in the world and the Minlaton National Trust Museum, which has a room dedicated to Captain Harry, & includes personal items A book on his life & a children’s book will be launched at the Town Hall in the evening.

Sunday 4 August there will be a Gala Day with small plane flyovers and fly in, Mail drop, Helicopter rides etc, food & gift stalls all to be held at Minlaton airfield, 243 Bluff Rd, Minlaton.
