Below Stairs: Costume Display & Floortalks

The Display

This March and April come explore the roles of servants within a large Victorian home. Our new display of five mannequins provides you with a glimpse into the lives of those who lived below stairs, revealing a different side of the Victorian era. To learn more come along to one of our floor talks. The first, which will be held in March, will focus on the duties and lives of individual staff members. The second, in April, will delve into the life style of a servant, with a particular focus on the ‘Servant Problem’ and how World War One changed the face of domestic service as an occupation.
